10 Tips to Become a Morning Person
We all have to get up in the morning. Life becomes much better when you embrace that fact instead of fighting it.
You can become a morning person and wake up calm and refreshed every morning.
Here are 10 tips you can use to wake up feeling more refreshed.
1. Get Enough Sleep
This one is obvious but so many people still try to get through the day with only 3-5 hours of sleep. A great way to make sure you get enough sleep every night is to set a sleep schedule. Go to sleep at the same time every night and wake at the same time every morning.
2. Keep Electronics Out of the Bedroom
Many people use their phones as an alarm, so if you can’t keep them out of your bedroom, at least turn them off an hour before going to sleep. Electronics emit blue light that keeps sleep at bay. Read a book instead.
3. Leave Your Bedroom
Your bedroom is a place for relaxation. It’s a place to sleep. But, you need to feel alert in the mornings, so you don’t want to stay in your relaxation haven for too long after waking.
Leave your room as soon as you wake up, even if it’s just to get a glass of water from the kitchen.
4. Get the Right Alarm
If you feel groggy in the morning, it’s very likely that your alarm went off when you were in REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep. It is the deepest sleep stage.
Get an alarm such as Sleep Time or Sleep Cycle that wakes you up when you are in light sleep.
5. Don’t Press Snooze
The snooze button will not help you feel less tired. It’ll actually do the opposite by messing with your sleep cycles.
6. Start Your Day with Exercise
Exercise in the morning can boost your energy levels and leave you more alert. The first task of the day should be getting your heart pumping.
7. Get Some Sunlight
A healthy dose of sunlight and fresh air is a great way to feel refreshed each morning. If it’s winter, you can invest in a sun lamp for a good start to the day.
8. Eat a Healthy Breakfast
A healthy breakfast will give you the energy you need to get through the day. Your breakfast should have protein and fiber in it.
9. Make a Schedule
Have something to look forward to when you wake up. The night before, make a schedule of the things you’ll do the next day.
Give yourself something nice to do, whether it’s catching up with an old friend or working on a project you haven’t had enough time for until you started waking up earlier.
10. Take Naps
If you’re tired, take a nap. Don’t let your sleep schedule stop you. Just try not to nap near your bedtime. You don’t want your nap to disturb your night’s sleep.
Anyone can become a morning person; it just takes a little motivation.
